Description: Fine 1911 T3 Turkey Red baseball cabinet card near set. Considered the most desirable and attractive of the 20th century baseball related tobacco card sets the offered set is being sold at auction for the first time. Hand assembled many years ago it includes some very fine condition examples. Missing only (7) of the (100) baseball cards issued as follows: Baker #78, Collins #87, Konetchy #103, McBride #110, Rhodes #114, Schulte #117, and Smith #118. Key cards grade as follows: Brown #1: EX/MT-NM, Bresnahan #4: EX-EX/MT, Crawford #5: EX-EX/MT, Clarke #8: EX, Cobb #9 (Very clean with a minute surface wrinkle at top and two tiny ink lines): EX, Evers #16: EX, Griffith #17: VG-EX, Jennings #18: VG-EX, Loss #19: EX/MT-NM, Lajoie #23: EX, McGraw #26: EX, Mathewson #27 (fine example with only a touch of corner wear): EX/MT-NM, Tinker #35: VG, Speaker #36: EX, Waddell #39 (indentation): VG, Young #42: EX, Chance #47: VG, Bender #80: EX, Johnson #99 (crease): VG, Keeler #101: VG-EX, Wallace #124: EX-MT, and Walsh #125: EX. Balance of the set includes only some VG cards with the vast majority of the set grading EX or better. Many of the cards are either very strong EX+ examples or by many standards EX-MT given their size and original fragility.
