Description: Significant 1939 Baseball Centennial stadium flag that hung at Yankee Stadium. Wonderful piece of stadiana having relevance to the celebrated 1939 Baseball Centennial celebration. Huge 70"x117" original linen flag that was believed to have flown over Yankee Stadium during the 1939 season. One of (16) such banners produced for the Major League teams the offered example came from Yankee Stadium along with similar individual team flags in the 1970's during renovations and has not been previously offered for public auction. The banner features patriotic red, white, and blue color sheme with the traditional Centennial batter graphic in the center. Exhibits typical usage and age wear consistent with similar pieces including some age toning, light fraying to a few edge areas, and a few tears/slits at far right edge. Baseball's celebration of its 100th anniversary remains one of the more significant and most collected of its type even to date: VG-EX
