Description: Reach baseball equipment trunk c.1910-20's. Fine quality painted leather trunk having a large 10" diameter painted baseball on top with "A.J. Reach Wright & Ditson Div. Chicago" on the front. Trunk measures 18" tall, 19" wide, and 36" long with decorative gilt Reach, Philadelphia decal on both end panels. Trunk retains original shipping labels (one covers a Reach decal on end panel) incl. A.G. Spalding Bros. label addressed to Edward L. Murphy in Chicago. Although it appears inconsistent there was a Chicago White Sox player who played during the 1912-26 era named Eddie Murphy (John Edward Murphy by birth) and the offered trunk was discovered in a Chicago estate.
