Description: Rare Smokey Joe Wood and Christy Mathewson photograph c.1912. Regal 5"x7" sepia tone image of Wood and Mathewson shaking hands during the 1912 World Series. The Red Sox prevailed over the Giants in the 1912 Series behind the brilliant pitching of Wood who won three games while Mathewson pitched well but lost two games due to unearned runs. The two HOF pitchers, along with Walter Johnson, were the most feared of the day and the offered image exhibits the unspoken respect each must have had for the other.
