Description: Superb 1917 Ty Cobb photograph attributed to George Grantham Bain. Very rare 4"x4 3/4" original photo of Cobb in Detroit uniform having U.S. flag patch visible on left sleeve. Cobb is posed leaning on a bat staring at the camera with his trademark hollow gaze. "Ty Cobb 4231-2" identification at top edge is within the image characteristic of a Bain image. Reverse is titled and dated 1917 with Culver Pictures Inc. stampings. Front of photo has some light soiling, small chip at to right corner area, tiny pinhole at bottom left corner, and a chip at bottom right corner area.
