Description: Jan. 16, 1940 Salute To Bucky Walters related lot. Group of various pieces relating to the banquet which was given to honor Walters 1939 MVP season. Includes large 28" tall figural trophy presented to Walters by the Sporting News for the best all around player in the Major Leagues for 1939. Trophy is inscribed on a silverplated placard at the base and features a single columnar design with a figural pitcher on top of a globe. Base has a large repaired crack and the pitcher finial has a small restored crack at the ankle. Lot also includes original 11"x17" photo of the dinner given in honor of Walters and various pieces of correspondence regretfully declining to attend the dinner. Signed letters incl. C.Mack, F.Frisch, K.Landis, and P.Crosley. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J.Spence-S.Grad: Range VG/EX-NM
