Description: Scarce Richie Ashburn Phila. Phillies home jersey c.1955-57. One of the rarest of all HOF'er jerseys from the 1950's era, classic pinstriped cream color flannel shirt with original embroidered "Phillies" lettering on front and #1 on back. "R.Ashburn" strip tag remains inside collar, Wilson tag is attached to tail front with partial dry clean tag rolling over where a slight period hemming of the tail has removed year tag. Jersey exhibits heavy usage and wash wear including light soiling, small seam separation under left arm, and faint shadow on front where Minor League patch was removed. Ashburn was the heart of the Phillies roster for over ten years leading the NL in batting for 1955 and 1958. First example that we have offered in over 11 years of auctions.
