Description: Rare Harry Hooper game worn baseball glove c.1910-15. Very high quality 2 1/2" web fielder's glove used by HOF outfielder Harry Hooper. Glove exhibits great usage wear including backstrap wear to the point where there is period string holding it onto the button. Interior has a large hole in center from wear, signed "Harry Hooper" on inside of thumb. Glove originated from the Lopota collection and includes copy of a handwritten letter from Hooper to Lopota regarding this glove and it's use by Hooper. In the letter Hooper states that he could not be sure whether it was used by him as a Red Sox or White Sox player but based on glove dating it is almost certainly as a Red Sox player. Hooper along with Duffy Lewis and Tris Speaker formed one of the finest outfield combinations in Major League history. One of a few documented HOF player game worn gloves to come into the hobby.
