Description: Significant Herb Pennock 1923 Tour of Japan jersey. Fantastic relic from worn by HOF pitcher Herb Pennock during the 1923 Tour of Japan. Jersey retains orig. Spalding tag inside collar along with "Pennock" chain stitched in faded red. Red, white, and blue shield shaped patch remains on left sleeve retaining bold original color. Jersey shows excellent overall usage and wash wear incl. interior red toned perspiration residue and some soiling on back of shirt. Pennock was among the American League's elite pitchers for 22 years compiling 241 total victories. The offered jersey represents the first example of a Pennock shirt to come into the marketplace to the best of our knowledge and is one of the finest jerseys of its' type to be offered for public sale.
