Lot Number: 700

Description: Significant Collection of over (2600) autographed baseballs. One of the most incredible autographed groupings with baseball relation to ever be offered at public auction and certainly the largest which was primarily assembled by James Armstrong. Armstrong was nothing less then a visionary in the field acquiring signatures of 19th century players who most likely had never even signed a ball before, having players signed with interesting notations incl. statistics, and maybe most significantly having only one player sign most baseballs in the group which was rare enough in the 1970's let alone in the 1950-60's during which he received most of the signatures. The group consists of approx. 2,615 auto. baseballs with the vast majority being single signed. A large portion are signed on Official NL or AL balls incl. Frick, Harridge, and Giles models with most of the others having been signed on 1960's Spalding un-official baseballs. The individuals who have signed these baseballs predominantly Major League baseball players with some league officials, player's wives, and dignitaries mixed into the collection. Following is a selection of signatures present to give an overall idea of the group: R.Peckinpaugh, V.Raschi, B.Herzog, T.Kubek, R.Stephenson, A.Adams, P.Young, H.Seibold, M.Throneberry, F.Hogan, Van Mungo, R.Walberg, F.Snodgrass, M.Wills, E.Gehrig, W.Kamm, H.Severeid, F.Haney, C.Dooin, N.Cash, J.Dunn, B.Lord, R.Petrocelli, F.Frankhouse, E.Collins Jr., O.Stanage, J.Grote, S.Yerkes, P.Donovan, O.Knabe, and J.Ginsberg. Players who have signed the various baseballs played in virtually all periods of Major League baseball from the late 19th century to the 1970's. Unique assemblage the likes of which will most likely never be seen again within the hobby along with the incredible breakdown value make this one of the more amzing lots we have handled. Please call for more details. One special mention regarding authenticity, the offered lot will include a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA J.Spence-S.Grad but it would be impossible to fully document signature styles and comparison exemplars for each and every baseball in this group. Again, please call for more questions but while the group will be thoroughly examined it is entirely possible that a minor signature here or there may not be able to be authenticated: Range GD-NM
