Description: Rare Hartford Blue Stockings carte de visite c.1875. The offered example is a freshly discovered specimen with superb original contrast and clarity picturing the Hartford Club posed in full uniform with equipment. Players include Bob Ferguson and legendary inventor of the curve ball Candy Cummings. Overall size is 2 3/8"x3 7/8" with slightly uneven offcut to top and bottom edge. Back retains partial gilt stamp of "Prescott & White, Hartford" photographers. Also written lightly in period pencil on back is "Our Blues". Outstanding condition exemplar of this tough and desirable 19th century image: EX-MT
