Lot Number: 1208

Description: Frogs playing baseball taxidermy display c. 1940-50's. In our eleven years of historical sports auctions and thousands of lots sold I can say without pause that this is the most unusual piece that we have handled. The offered display consists of (8) eternally preserved frogs which were carefully posed in their appropriate positions either fielding or hitting. There is even an umpire frog who is calling a strike on the web legged batter. Playing field is a painted board with scalloped cut corners measuring 24"x35". Frogs have some age wear incl. small cracks but remain remarkably intact given their age and fragility. Interesting piece of sports related artwork with priceless conversation value: EX
