Description: July 8, 1949 Dodgers vs. Giants ticket stub - Monte Irvin debut and the first African American pitcher/batter matchup. Rare original ticket stub issued for the game played Ebbets Field in which Hall of Famer Monte Irvin made his Major League debut. Also playing in his first game was Hank Thompson of the Giants who would face Don Newcombe of the Dodgers in what was the first time an African American batter has faced an African American pitcher. Mild creasing/wrinkles do not overly detract from eye appeal.
