Description: 1961 Topps #406 "Mantle Blasts 565 Ft. Home Run" - original artwork. Desirable original artwork which was used in the production of card #406 in the 1961 Topps Baseball card set. Griffith Stadium is shown with an arrow added illustrating the path of Mantle's (565) foot home run. It appears to be an original photograph on approx. 4.75"x6" heavy stock with watercolor and other types of paint/color added to a roughly 3.5"x4.5" portion. There are some production/identification related pencil notations on front and back. The 1961 season proved to be one of Mantle's most notable when he and teammate Roger Maris engaged in a fabled chase of the single season home run record. This was one of several cards in the 1961 set which related to Mantle and was surely among the most popular which was chased by fans that year.
