Description: Impressive 1938 Gum Inc. Horrors of War lot of (191) different blank backed proof cards. Total of (191) different blank backed cards from the popular Horrors of War Series which are presumably “proof” cards and closely resemble others (in format and condition) which have previously been offered as originating directly from the files of Gum Inc. Included are cards (#1 through #24) on thin paper stock and cards (#25 through #72) and (#97 through #216) on thicker more standard trading card stock of the period. All have mounting residue on the back and each has the card number written on in pencil and other mostly light general wear. Some additional wear primarily effects cards on the thinner stock (#1 through #24) with a handful more notably effected. Color on nearly all remains crisp with many likely appearing as vibrant as the day they were printed. Ten of the cards have been encapsulated by SGC and noted as “Authentic” on the label. The only other substantive lot of Horrors of War proof cards which we can find record of was offered in a 2015 auction at which time it generated considerable interest with a total of (63) cards selling for just over $5,000: See descriptionEstimated Price Range: ($5,000-$10,000)
