Description: 1930 W554 Babe Ruth - Exceedingly rare "History Pictures of America" advertising back. Oversized (5"x7") hand cut card featuring Ruth in his prime, shown in batting pose as a member of the New York Yankees with his facsimile signature on front. The W554 series is typically found with blank backs however a small quantity have surfaced over the years with printed on advertising. The offered is one of perhaps (2) or (3) known examples of the Ruth card (the most desirable subject in the series) which has text on the back promoting "History Pictures Of America" which could be obtained in packages of fresh roasted pumpkin seeds. Evident wear includes rounded/chipped corners, a touch to the edges, and there are a pair of small tears on the lower edge. The first W554 Ruth with this advertising back to have been offered at auction in many years and newly discovered with this being the first time this example has been publicly offered: SGC 1.5 FREstimated Price Range: ($10,000-$20,000)
