Lot Number: 133

Description: Early Napoleon Lajoie model baseball bat c.1900s-10s. Hand turned wooden bat measures 34" long and weighs a monstrous 45.8 ounces. "Lajoie" is block lettered in the centerbrand area and there are no other markings with exception of the letter "B" carved into the knob. Strong use is evident throughout with the hitting surface showing mild grain swelling due to repeated ball contact. Handle is wrapped in period tape to aid in grip. There are a handful of small spots of red discoloration on the upper handle and some minor chips in the knob. While the exact origins can not be confirmed, it has been speculated that similar style Lajoie model bats were made for his use. A partial MEARS hologram is affixed to the barrel end: VG-EX
