Description: Duke Slater autographed "Slater of Iowa" book. Exceedingly rare autograph of Football Hall of Famer Duke Slater appears on the first inside page of a specially bound edition which is gilt lettered on the front cover. The large autograph (approx. 4.5" across) rates 8 out of 10. Also signed by the author, James Peterson, on the following page. Touch of light handling and storage wear and there are a pair of pencil notations on the inside front cover. Slater was a noted player while at the University of Iowa and helped the Hawkeyes earn a National Championship in 1921. He went on to become the first African American lineman in NFL history and is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
