Description: 1974 Walter Payton Jackson State (1,029) rushing yards presentational football. Spalding "Official J5V Intercollegiate" football was presented to Walter Payton in commemoration of his 1974 season with Jackson State in which he rushed for (1,029) yards in just (10) games. Written/painted on is the year and yard total "1974 1029" and on either side are team names and scores for Jackson State's final game of the season against Alcorn State. This suggests that it is likely that the ball is a presentational game ball and it would have come from Payton's final game before graduating and being drafted by the Chicago Bears. Among the earlier presentational footballs we have handled with relation to so noted a figure. Light general storage and age related wear with some minor air loss.
