Lot Number: 218

Description: Joe "Jellybean" Bryant professional model San Diego Clippers jersey and shorts, c. 1981. White home jersey has “Clippers” across the front with Bryant’s No. 23 in blue with orange outline, along with blue and orange ribbing at the neck and arm openings and Russell Athletic size 44 label affixed to the collar. Back of jersey displays “Bryant” lettering with 23 below. A Russell Athletic manufacturer’s size 44 label with cleaning instructions is also affixed to the front tail. Matching pro model shorts have original drawstring and nautical signal flags down each side that spell “Clippers." A Spanjian size 36 label, with what appears to be a faded number written in marker, is affixed to the interior of the shorts. Bryant, the father of Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, played with the Clippers from 1979-1982. His jersey and shorts were obtained directly by our consignor when he won a ticket holders’ three-point contest at the end of the season, and also included with the lot is a signed picture of ex-Clippers’ player and Hall of Famer Bill Walton holding the consignor’s son and awarding him the uniform. Both jersey and shorts exhibit light use/wash wear: EX/MT.
