Description: Rare and possibly unique Boston Red Sox photograph with Babe Ruth c.1919 (PSA Type III). Highly uncommon large format 7 1/4"x11 1/4" black and white image picturing seven members of the Red Sox team posed in stadium setting including a young Babe Ruth. The photo was discovered affixed to a period photographic mount (included) and has had some professional restoration to several areas including some inpainting to 1/4" spot at head area of two players next to Ruth and another small spot near player's chin holding a bat. Ruth is not affected by any restoration and presents with very fine detail. The back of the mount has period inscription denoting the photo as being taken on August 26, 1919 at Detroit which could possibly be written as the incorrect date given the Red Sox played in Detroit from August 23-25th. Red Sox player names are also written on back of the mount including Schang, Berryhill, James, Vitt, Kneeling, McNally, Gainor, and of course Ruth. Red Sox era Babe Ruth images are of notable scarcity with the population for specimens of this large format size numbering at a very minute quantity.
