Lot Number: 7

Description: Frank Baker professional model baseball bat c.1923-25 (PSA "GU 8"). Louisville Slugger 125 model H41 bat has Baker facsimile signature in the barrel along with "World Championship Model" which is only found on his bats. The bat measures 34.25" long and weighs 35.2oz. Outstanding use with a repaired handle crack. Grain swelling due to repeated contact on the hitting surface and there is a very small amount of wood loss. What appears to be the letter "L" has been carved into the knob. While the labeling period of the bat is generally accepted to been employed starting the year after Baker retired there is an order in his factory records for this model which was placed on 9-30-22. These would represent bats made for his use in the 1922 World Series. The included LOA from PSA states that there is a possibility that this bat was part of that order and documents other late season centerbrand labeling changes. A choice example for display which dates to his post-MLB days in the Maryland Easton Shore League and was possibly made for his use in the 1922 World Series. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and PSA/DNA (graded "GU 8"): EX
