Lot Number: 28

Description: 1933 Washington Senators team signed panoramic photograph. Rare oversized panoramic photograph showing members of the American League Championship team standing shoulder to shoulder. It has been signed by all but (2) with a total of (26) signatures representing (25) different players. Due to the mechanics involved in taking such an image at the time Goose Goslin was able to appear twice (once near the left end and again on extreme right) and he has signed over both of his likenesses. Additional autographs include Joe Cronin, Sam Rice, Heinie Manush, Moe Berg, Nick Altrock, Earl Whitehall, Frank Schulte, and Joe Kuhel. All are done in fountain pen and generally rate 6-6/7 out of 10 on average with some lesser. The piece has long been housed in an 11.5"x68" wood frame which appears to have been exposed to moisture at some point. As a result, there are some areas of the image which have adhered to the glass (affixed in some places and loosened in others) with some resulting damage to the photo. This largely effects the portion which shows Nick Altrock and to a lesser degree the left side image of Goose Goslin. Despite this issue, along with some additional wear, the overall presentation remains very strong with good eye appeal. A notably rare photograph (this being one of only a handful known) with further note to the autographs of nearly all shown including some of the premier players of the decade.
