Lot Number: 207

Description: Early J.F. Hillerich attributed lathe from the Hillerich Family. Early piece was obtained from Charles Hillerich, descendant of Louisville Slugger founder J.F. Hillerich, and is said to be a lathe that the elder created from a sewing table in order to turn products for the Company. Use and years of storage have resulted in general wear/rust and it is presumed to no longer be functional. An additional piece which would likely have seated in the metal rail affixed to the top (which would have secured the piece being worked on in place) is no longer present. Obtained by our consignor at the Estate auction of Charles Hillerich. Historically significant piece as relates to the history of baseball and equipment would likely have dated to the earliest days of Hillerich and Bradsby. Lathe measures: 38 1/2"h x 54"l x 20 1/2"w, see images/description
