Description: Rare Satchel Paige autographed 1948 Rookie season real photo postcard (Encapsulated by SGC (Authentic)). Sepia toned postcard issued by the Indians during Paige’s landmark Rookie year in the Major Leagues utilizes the same image as his 1949 Bowman Rookie card. This piece in fact pre-dates the Bowman card having been issued in 1948 specifically and it includes the original mailing envelope in which it was sent to a collector that is postmarked August of that year. Signed in the period "Satchell Paige" (stet) in fountain pen rating 7 out of 10 with only minor imperfections. Postcard itself is nicely centered with a touch of corner/edge wear that is slightly more pronounced along the bottom. A note on the back is written in unknown hand. Envelope has mild storage/handling wear and there is a more recent "Paige (pic)" notation written on the front: Sig. EX-EX/MT, Postcard VG.
