Description: Extremely rare 19th century baseball quilted catcher's chest protector. Primitive hand stitched quilted chest protector as worn in the infancy of baseball protective equipment during the late 19th century. Retains its original strapping and buckle back all having varying degrees of age wear and use. Neck strap has some separation with period safety pin reinforcement. No visible manufacturer's markings but quality is of strong merit. 22" tall. One of only a scant few surviving examples: VGEstimated Price Range: ($1,000-$1,500)
