Description: Very fine 1912 L1 Helmar Leathers #114 G.C. Alexander. Desirable oversized (approx. 10"x14") leather premium issued by Helmar in exchange for coupons packaged with their "Turkish Trophies" line of tobacco products. The coupons could be exchanged for a T3 Cabinet Card (10-15 coupons), S81 Silk (20-25 coupons), or an L1 Leather (35-50 coupons). This trio of premiums are among the most sought after tobacco related issues in the hobby and the L1 Leathers are by far the rarest. Image of the legendary Hall of Famer remains crisp and well defined. Light to mild toning/spotting is evident on the front along with a hint of light wear. Back has evidence of prior mounting with a spec of residue at the bottom and a circular quarter sized abrasion at the top.
