Lot Number: 342

Description: 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XIII ring. Original ring as presented to Pittsburgh Steelers prospect and Vietnam War veteran Don Edwards by Steelers owner Art Rooney. Edwards has been receiving treatment for nerve damage to his right leg which would prevent him from playing for the Steelers. Rooney offered Edwards an alternative position within the organization and although ultimately he turned down the offer was still presented with the offered ring. The ring is nearly identical to those given to Steelers' players for their victory over the Dallas Cowboys with three larger inset diamonds positioned atop a field of smaller diamonds with "Pittsburgh Steelers World Champions" lettering surrounding. One side panel has "Edwards" above Steelers helmet with "44" on it for the number Edwards wore as a prospect. Other side panel shows Super Bowl XII titling above Lombardi trophy emblem. Interior ring band is stamped "Jostens 10K" with general light wear overall. Size 12. Very desirable championship ring with relation to an iconic NFL legacy team. Includes letter of provenance from Don Edwards: EX/MT-NM
