Description: Victorian era "stocking cap" with football attribution c.1880s. Exceedingly rare original striped knit cap commonly used in Victorian era sports including football. Olive color hat has black striping and no visible manufacturer's stampings or labels. Faint vestiges of period initials in black on the interior. While certainly very likely used for football play without the presence of athletic manufacturer markings we can only attribute its football use.
