Description: 1971 Johnny Bench Baseball Writers "Sam Rice Award." Presentational Elgin brand clock in elaborate 12"x10.5"x8" wood enclosure has a pair of engraved metal placards affixed to either side. The first reads in part "Washington, DC Chapter, Baseball Writers Association of American...January 19, 1971" and the other, "The Sam Rice Award to Johnny Bench..." with his 1970 season stats below. General age and storage related surface wear and the door on back (through which mechanical portion is accessed) is loose (could surely be repaired). Unknown if clock is in working order.
