Description: Exceptional 1945 Albert "Red" Schoendienst St. Louis Cardinals rookie season professional model uniform (SGC/Grob Excellent)(Rookie season). Stunning visual appeal emanates from this cream color heavy gauge flannel jersey as worn by Cardinals icon and Hall of Fame member Red Schoendienst. Jersey front features Cardinals embroidered insignia with number "6: found on the reverse. Rawlings manufacturer's tag affixed inside the collar with size "42" supplemental tag. Tail front displays "Schoendienst 45" chain stitched in red with World War II stars and stripes patch remaining on the left sleeve. Matching pants retain appropriate Rawlings tagging with dry clean and size 38 supplemental tags. "Schmidt" written in faded period ink inside waist band although we feel very confident the pants are in fact original to the jersey and were worn by Schoendienst as well. Jersey condition grade is exemplary with the top button having been replaced listing as the only mentionable counterpoint. Pants present in very fine condition as well with a team repair to one knee which also displays vestiges of what appears to be some light blood staining from a slide. Schoendienst was the very definition of the "Cardinal Way" spending 19 years and 11 years as a player and manager for the club, respectively. Red appeared in 10 All-Star games and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989. The offered jersey almost certainly ranks as the most significant Schoendienst uniform to have entered the marketplace with special note to one of the most attractive style uniforms of the 1940-50s era. Includes LOA from SGC/Grob (Excellent): EX
