Description: 1983 Johnny Bench "Bill Slocum Memorial Award…For His High Contribution To Baseball." Black wooden plaque (11"x13.5") has applied metal faceplate which reads "The Bill Slocum Memorial Award, To John Bench, For His High Contribution To Baseball Over A Long Period, Presented By the New York Chapter, Baseball Writers Association Of America, 1983." Bench was enjoying the final season of his Hall of Fame career and was honored by one of the more noteworthy groups of Baseball writers in the country.
