Description: Magnificent George Wright 1926 National League Golden Jubilee ornamental pin. Elaborate lapel pin has "National League Golden Jubilee 1876-1926" lettered within the upper portion. A baseball diamond accent, with crossed bats and a ball, hangs from this and has (4) small diamonds at the base positions. A "George Wright" name bar at the bottom is supported by a pair of red, white, and blue ribbons. Makers mark on the back was weakly struck and the piece is otherwise unmarked. Wright served as Master of Ceremonies for the festivities honoring the 50th Anniversary of the National League which took place on February 2, 1926 in New York City. Along with his brother Harry, George Wright was one of the "founding fathers" of the game having played on its' first professional team, the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings. They remain among the most important early figures in baseball history. In fine overall condition with some light scattered wear and the most notable flaw being some fraying to the lower ribbon: EX
