Description: Rare Richie Ashburn Philadelphia Phillies professional model home jersey c.1955-57 (SGC/Grob: Very Good). Pinstriped cream color jersey displaying the classic embroidered "Phillies" team name across the front with embroidered "1" on the back. "R.Ashburn" chain stitched strip tag found inside the collar area with Wilson manufacturer's tagging (size 40) affixed to the tail front. Just below the "Phillies" team name on the front of the jersey are very faint vestiges of "Pioneers" which were the Phillies minor league affiliate in the New York-Penn League. This team name removal along with a custom hemmed tail that has rendered the year tag missing indicate the shirt was sent down for Minor League use after Ashburn. Richie Ashburn game used jerseys are among the rarest of the Phillies players with only a scant handful having turned up within the marketplace. Whitey's indelible mark on the Philadelphia franchise is indisputable as he remains one of the most beloved players in team history.
