Description: Fine 1955 Warren Spahn Milwaukee Braves home jersey (SGC/Grob: Superior) - MEARS "A9.5") with period Braves pants. Cream color flannel jersey has the "Braves" team name and tomahawk logo across the front with number "21" below. The number also appears on back and on the left sleeve is an intricate mascot patch. Wilson tag on the front tail notes size (42) and below are a "Spahn +55" embroidered strip tag and wash tag. In outstanding overall condition with evident useage and wash wear along with some minor scattered spots of discoloration and a minute hole in one sleeve. An included pair of Braves pants dating the same season (Wilson, size 34, "55" and "27" embroidered year and player number tags) were issued to a teammate. During a career that spanned over twenty years Spahn compiled the most wins in Major League history by a left handed pitcher with (363) and made (14) All-Star Game appearances. This included a (3) year absence for military service with his accomplishments in that arena no less notable and deserving of a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and a battlefield commission in World War II. Obtained by a member of the Braves Minor League system after use by Spahn and it remained in his possession until it's inital offering in our November, 2007 live auction.
