Lot Number: 200

Description: Joe DiMaggio professional model baseball bat c.1941-42 (PSA GU 7.5). Museum quality Joe DiMaggio professional model bat specifically dating to the era in which he hit in (56) consecutive games establishing one of the great individual sporting records of the 20th Century. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 36" in length and has a current weight of 34.8oz. "Joe DiMaggio" facsimile signature remains prominently burned into the barrel and as do the manufacturer's stampings at mid barrel. The knob has been stamped "35 1/2", a period factory marking denoting weight at time of production. From April 19, 1940 through September 19, 1942, DiMaggio's Louisville Slugger Factory ordering records include the notation "Mark Wgts on End." Those marked "35 1/2" were specifically sent to DiMaggio in 1941 and 1942 only. Evident usage wear is largely confined to one half of the barrel which displays grain swelling and other general wear. A handle crack has been expertly repaired and is nearly indiscernible along with some heavy wear to the barrel area indicating possible use after its original issue. DiMaggio game bats of quality are particularly rare with this example ranking as one of the finer specimens we have offered. Includes LOA PSA/DNA (GU 7.5): EX
