Description: Highly important Pittsburgh Crawfords and Negro League legends autographed sheet c.1930s. Stunningly scarce vintage 8 1/2"x11" unlined page signed by seven members of the Pittsburgh Crawfords in black fountain pen at the top of the sheet. Signatures include James Bell, Curtis Harris, Pat Patterson, Oscar Charleston, Jimmie Crutchfield, W.G. Perkins, and Josh Gibson. The original owner of the sheet subsequently had several other Negro League Legends sign the bottom portion of the sheet including Martin Dihigo, Buck Leonard, Monte Irvin, Wild Bill Wright, and Larry Doby. Signatures range from 7 to 10 out of 10 with most grading 8 or better. The Pittsburgh Crawfords were one of the most dominant teams in the history of the Negro Leagues. The Crawfords boasted several star players who many consider to be the greatest players, of any league, in the history of the game of baseball. Most notably is Josh Gibson the prodigious home run hitter whose career home run total tallies between 800-1000 depending on the source. No matter the statistics, Gibson's talents were simply astounding capturing the attention of both white and African American sportswriters alike who proclaimed him as the greatest player they had ever seen. Additional scarcities of Oscar Charleston and Martin Dihigo in combination with the other iconic players on the offered sheet render its status as among the very elite and most significant Negro League autographed items we have encountered.
