Lot Number: 177

Description: Fine 1937 Earl Averill Cleveland Indians professional model road jersey (SGC/Grob: Good). Pinstriped flannel jersey has "Cleveland" team name across the front which has been restored and number "3" on back. In the collar is a "Lowe & Campbell" manufacturers tag with adjacent size "42" flag tag. Below is an "Averill Earl 1937" embroidered strip tag. Exceptional display value with expected use and wash wear along with scattered moth holes and some other minor age related wear. Number "3" on back has some separation from the stitching. Averill debuted with the Indians in 1929 and would spend the next decade with the club and to this day remains their all-time leader in total bases, runs batted in, runs, and triples. His number is one of six which has been retired by the franchise. In addition to being an exceedingly rare and visually appealing style the offered represents one of the only Averill jerseys to have surfaced. Includes LOAs from SGC (Good): EX
