Lot Number: 160

Description: Johnny Vander Meer display with rare 1938 Double No-Hitter ticket stubs and related scorecard. Tastefully done framed display (23.5"x24.5") commemorating Vander Meer's most noted career accomplishment. Includes ticket stubs from both the June 11th and June 15th games in which he threw consecutive no-hitters. The earlier took place at Crosley Field vs. the Boston Bees and this stub displays in crisp condition with a staple hole near the top. The June 15th game was played in Brooklyn and it is also noteworthy in that it was their first night game. This stub shows creasing and wear throughout. Both are secured in place with conservation tape which could likely be removed by a professional if so desired. Also includes an original scorecard issued for the June 11th game (at Crosley) which has mild scattered wear and a partially split binding along with a staple hole to upper front cover. It was scored neatly in pencil and the center page (Bees portion) was removed to be matted below. Both the scorecard and scored page are mounted as such that they can be removed without risk of damage. An 8"x10" and the scorecard front cover have each been signed in marker rating 8 to 8/9 out of 10. Includes auction LOA from JSA: see description
