Description: Highly significant Harry Hooper Boston Red Sox professional model road jersey c.1919 (SGC/Grob: Excellent - MEARS "A9"). Pinstriped gray flannel jersey has "Red Sox" team name across the front in red felt stylized font. In the collar is a "Horace Partridge" label and a swatch of cloth below is embroidered with the name, "Hooper." Use and some general age related wear are evident throughout with some loss to the felt and fraying around the collar primarily due to removal of original sun collar lining. One button is missing and two have been replaced. Hooper played with the Red Sox from 1909 through 1920 and was a key component of their 1912, 1915, 1916, and 1918 World Series Championship teams. A member of the famed "Million-Dollar Outfield" (alongside Tris Speaker and Duffy Lewis) he was an outstanding right fielder and one of the better leadoff hitters of his time. The importance of the offered jersey can not be overstated recognizing that it is one of the earliest Red Sox jerseys to have surfaced and by far among the most notable with regard to player. To accompany the jersey are a pair of similiar pinstriped flannel pants by Spalding (with an additional tag that has falled out or been removed) that were found with it many years ago although are likley not original to teh jersey based on quality. Includes LOAs from SGC/Grob (Excellent) and MEARS Authentication (A9): EX
