Description: Billy Martin professional model baseball glove c.1950s. Wilson brand left hand model "A2100" glove with Billy Martin facsimile signature in the palm displays strong use and some general age related wear. The wrist strap label is no longer present and one lace has been repaired. Accompanied by a trio of notarized letters which detail it's history through an old Army teammate of Martin's whom sent the glove to his nephew when the boy was recovering from an operation. Years later, in the included letter of provenance, he recalled "I asked my dad...to ask for a Billy Martin autograph...when Billy found out I was recovering from an operation he said he wanted to do better...and gave the glove to send." This information is further relayed in a copy of a 1955 newspaper article (likewise included). Gloves are notoriously difficult to succinctly attribute to a particular player with the offered example, having been documented in a period newspaper, one of the more well sourced we have offered.
