Description: Significant July 4, 1939 Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig photograph taken on Gehrig Farewell Speech day (PSA/DNA Type IV). Iconic sepia tone 8"x10" image picturing Ruth embracing Lou Gehrig on the occasion of Gehrig's famed farewell speech at Yankee Stadium having been diagnosed with ALS. Although sometimes strained, the two men enjoyed a long relationship as teammates and friends which was never more evident than the offered image. To think that this particular image was housed in the Babe's personal collection provides ample context to its significance. Surface has some light crazing with back having slight paper residue from frame removal. Matted and framed.
