Lot Number: 520

Description: Exceedingly scarce Joe Jackson autographed baseball displaying as single signature example c.1938. Reach Official American League baseball has been signed on the side panel, "Joe Jackson" in fountain pen rating 5/6-6 out of 10. The ball has mild toning and areas of scattered surface wear throughout. . In addition, the ball has been signed by approx. (6) members of the1938 Detroit Tigers: Elden Auker, Rudy York, Tom Bridges, and Don Ross. The additional signatures are generally less prominent in nature and range between 1 to 4 out of 10. None of the Tigers player's signatures effect the Jackson autograph or display. Desirably, the Joe Jackson autograph displays as a lone signature on a side panel. With no documented single signature Joe Jackson baseballs known to exist the offered example may well be the lone surviving specimen to be considered for that vaunted collecting category. Jackson's autograph remains one of the most desirable and elusive across the entire spectrum of collectibles. As a product of a rural upbringing it is famously well documented that he struggled with literacy and writing skills throughout his entire life. On rare occasions however Joe Jackson was able to essentially "draw" his signature as evident with the offered example in its crude formation and deliberate appearance. In our 26 year company history we have handled less than (10) items of any type having been authentically signed by Joe Jackson. The value of a pure single signature Joe Jackson baseball is simply incalculable. With no known examples having surfaced in the last 100 years since his professional baseball debut the odds of such a baseball being discovered are almost non existent. Incredible opportunity to acquire one of the holy grails of autograph collecting with noted importance as a single signature display example. Includes full LOA from JSA: Ball :VG-EX, Signature: VG-EX
