Lot Number: 486

Description: Lefty O'Doul professional model baseball bat c.1921-31. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat with O'Doul facsimile signature in the barrel measures 35" long and weighs 33.8oz. Strong usage wear is evident throughout with visible ball marks and a touch of grain swelling. There is a large handle crack which was partially secured with (1) vintage nail. Vault marked "O19" in either end and there is some faint factory side writing that has all but faded from view. The number "2" is stamped just to the right of centerbrand for unknown reason. O'Doul remains an important figure in the history of both the Major and Pacific Coast Leagues and is credited with introducing baseball to Japan on a large scale. It would not be surprising to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee at some point in the future. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
