Description: Babe Ruth single signed baseball bat with extensive 1935 World Series provenance. Louisville Slugger 40BR model bat measuring 33" long having been signed in black fountain pen on the barrel end. Signature rates 6/7 out of 10 with loss of contrast due to toning of wood where the surface finish was removed for signature. Bat itself remains very clean with minimal surface wear. The bat originated from the family of Tommy O'Leary who was a 15 year old boy in Biddeford, ME who in 1935 won a contest to travel to teh 1935 World Series and meet Babe Ruth. The young man was accompanied by his father Jeremiah to Detroit, MI to watch the World Series and meet Babe Ruth. The offered bat was signed by Ruth for the boy who had a spinal affliction and has been retained by the family until its current offering. The bat will include extensive copies of period newspaper articles and images referencing O'Leary and the trip including an image posed with Ruth himself.
