Description: Significant Mel Ott National Baseball Hall of Fame presentational plaque. Original tooled leather framed plaque as presented to Mel Ott during his induction to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951. Photographic replica of Ott's Hall of Fame bronze plaque is matted with the original tooled leather matting having "National Baseball Hall of Fame Cooperstown, NY" gilt lettering at bottom. Retains its original wooden frame which has had its leather re-surfaced due to age damage. Ott retired as the National League leader in home runs and rbi's earning election to the Hall of Fame in 1951. One of the more significant examples of its type to have been offered at public auction with special note to the rare earlier dating period wooden frame format. Includes letter of provenance from the Ott family: EX-MT (with note to frame re-surface)
