Description: Important Robert Clemente 3,000th Hit Pittsburgh Pirates presentational award. Substantive oversized 25"x27" walnut beveled plaque as given to Clemente in recognition of his 3,000th career hit. Handsome plaque features various applied brass placards including images of Clemente, team insignia, titling, list of 3,000 hit club members, and inscribed placard from Pirates President, Daniel Galbreath. Overall condition is very clean with original surface and patina intact. The wooden plaque itself has one repaired horizontal surface crack and small chip at lower left. Presented to Clemente by the Pittsburgh Pirates during on field ceremony held in Clemente's honor by team president, Daniel Galbreath. Distinct item with relation to one of the most revered and storied accomplishments of Clemente's career as presented by the Pirates team itself.
