Description: Fine Roberto Clemente presentational trophy c.1960-70s. Large format ornate figural trophy presented to Clemente by the Education Secretary of Puerto Rico having multi tiered walnut wooden plinth base with two handled figural loving cup style trophy with four Greek athletic figurals surrounding. Silver-plated metal batter figural at top is a period replacement nearly identical to the original as based on period photographic comparison. Two large silver plated placards affixed to the trophy base inscribed (in Spanish), "To Roberto Clemente: The public Education Secretary of Puerto Rico Doctor Ramon Mellado, public school students and Magisterio Puerto Rico award this trophy to Roberto Clemente, whose extraordinary sporting history and excellent citizen virtues are a source of pride for Puerto Rico. We give him a warm tribute of affection to the outstanding Puerto Rican and friend". Total height measures at 27" with a very impressive display presence. Few of the figurals have some touch up to the plating otherwise the trophy remains in very fine overall condition.
