Description: 1970 Roberto Clemente presentational trophy. Attractive figural trophy with multi-tier walnut wooden plinth bases connected by velvet lined brass pillar supports. Inset brass placard in the center column inscribed to Clemente (in Spanish), "To Roberto Clemente you are the triumph of the man in front of all the angles of the adversity and current emulation in the Puerto Rican youth". Additional brass placard affixed to the base titled (in Spanish), "Most Valuable Pirate of Them All" and "Pittsburgh Pirates" (in English). Two handled brass art nouveau style loving cup finial at top tier with figural brass batter finial on top. The bottom wooden base has some warping from age but displays normally. Top loving cup and batter figural have some replating to the gilt. Includes letter of provenance from the Clemente family: EX
