Description: Fine 1971 Roberto Clemente Medalla Puerto Rico presentational gold medallion. Exceptional quality ornate medal having "Roberto Clemente" raised lettering at top with red, white, and blue ribbon suspended underneath. Highly important "Gold Medal of Puerto Rico" as presented to Clemente by Governor Luis A. Ferre in ceremonies held in the Salon of the Throne of the Fortress. Brass and enamelwork medal features the Crest of Puerto Rico and is inscribed on gold border, "Medalla Puerto Rico A.P.R.P." Reverse of the medal is engraved, "Otorada 1971" meaning it was granted in 1971. Hallmark of noted Swiss jeweler on back, "Huguenin" along with "0750" gold stampings which is the equivalent of 18K gold. Total approximate weight of the medal is around 3.1 Troy ounces which does include the enamelwork portion. The pin bar is also marked "0750" and weighs approximately 1.1 Troy ounces. Ornate and attractive presentational medal of desirable gold content.
